I Just Remembered Something Horrible

does anyone else feel nervous when young children ... younger than ten ... watch there fish ...

i just remembered keeping my caugh catfish and perch in a bucket to show them off a bit... then this little girl sayed i bet they like coke .... she poured in a whole can while i wasnt looking... when i returned with another catfish .... all the fish were dead ... ?!

it was so uneccisary .... i just feel nervous when younger people dont care...she walked off .. told her parents the fish liked the coke

i hate going to my LFS...you see every single kid go up to the clownfish and go "MUMMY ITS NEMO!!!!!!!!!" that gets on my nerves, and seeing adults letting their kids dip their hands into the tank gets to me as well, some parents have no control anymore! bring back the cain IMO, some kids have no respect these days!

nothing that bad has ever happened! but when you work in an lfs all i hear is screaming and children smashing their hands against the tanks shouting NEMO! NEMO! NEMO!

psh my friends always bag on me for liking fish, i told my friend one time i was having an ammonia problem and he said he could pee in the tank to add more ammonia..

and another time when i use do keep Dwarf puffers, and they were mating!! and my friend tapped on the glass and ruined it! i kicked him streaight in the nuts. i said if my fish cant bread then neither will you.. it was funny.

lol about the clown fish ... that doesnt bother me as much as when it says .... Clown fish (nemo) on the id card .... i saw this last time....

if you are sensible enough to keep fish ... you wouldnt reckognise it as a nemo

i saw regals named dories and silver sharks called bruce as well ( by children ... not labeled, the labeling was on the clowns
its unfair .... marvin gets no credit

i just get nervous when i see kids kicking the bottom tanks aswel ...(not on perpose but when the get close to the main displays they end up kicking the lower ones)

argh what i hate about keeping dwarf puffers im always asked... do they puff...

i always reply no.. i dont #101## them off!

I think it depends on the kid - my kids are fab with my fish, in fact my two year old helps me feed them every morning and even taps his finger nail gently on the glass to show them where the sinking tablet has fallen if it looks like they can;t find it and my kids both dance with the fish too (the fish do a wiggly dance at the front of the tank when we get close, very cute to watch all 4 of them - 2 fish and 2 kids bobbing at each other!)

But then I've raised my kids to respect all animals, including fish! Not everyone does.

Although I agree about parents keeping a tighter lease on kids in LFS, and on the labelling - mice aren't labelled as "Mouse (Stuart Little)" so why are clown fish labelled as "Clown Fish (Nemo)"??

There is a garden centre near me that sells fish, which has a rope barrier keeping the customers away from the tanks. That's the result of child smashing a tank. I was there shortly after it happened, they were still mopping the floor. Why did the parents not stop them behaving that badly?

it was a while ago, but a kid ran up to a biorb [empty thank god!] and purposely pushed it over! then the kids mum just took his hand and walked away! grrrr we had to replace it as it was all scratched and battered £89.99 down the pan...

so yes its bad parenting!

once when i was at my lfs, in the molly tank was a whole bunch of mollys and a little 6-8 year old was looking at them strangely when they were mating i looked at the side of my eyes and the little girl says mummy whats they doing!??
