i have a 20gallon filter on my 10 gallon...if i turn it half way, i feel that the water is not clean enough, if i turn it to full blast the water fill be crystal clear but i dont think my cories can handle to current...some times they can..sometimes they dont, if they are in their house "cave" it will not bother them. if they are out side..i think it bothers them..on my other 10gallon, i always turn it to full blast and my baby guppies can stand the current in the box, and my other 2 cories also in the tank is fine with the current...i think it is because of the plants which slow down the current, my question is what should i do..?? with the first tank...i never noticed this problem before...

Edit: is it becasue the filter is on the front? and the second tank's filter is on the side??(tank with baby)

btw that tank i am talking about is the one in my sig...

Could you try directing the filter outflow at the wall of the tank to dissipate (right word??) the flow? Or, placing some item of decor or a robust plant in front of it. That way you get heavier filtration and a weaker current. :)

...........i dont think so...if you took at the picture in my sig, my plant is already making less flow..but..it still seems too much

Hmm...I can't actually work out where he filter is in that pic :X sorry for being so dense! No chance you could angle it so the current hits the glass?

Can you split the outlet? Place a tube with a Y piece and more tubes coming off over the outlet and then have these at different places so the flow isnt so bad, you could direct them easier that way. If the flow is still too strong add Y pieces after the first Y to make 4 outlets. Place each outlet behind a rock or something, 4 outlets at a quarter of the power each.

You can get Y pieces that split flow from one tube into two... just depends if you can get tube that would fit the outlet on your filter. If you can get the tube, the Y pieces would probably be sold in the same range... i.e. on the same shelf :)

try a media bag filled with filter floss hung so the water coming out of your filter runs over/through it. that should slow the flow, but still get all the water through
