I just did a 25% water change in my 75 gal tank. The Nitrites went from 0 to 0.5. I couldn't figure out why, then tested the water i was putting in. It is over 1.0 in Nitrites... what do i do now? How am i suppose to do water changes?

Are you collecting the water straight from the tap into a bucket then into the the tank or using a hose/pipe from the tap directly in the tank?

I had this problem when i was using a garden hose to fill my tank, the water was fine out of the tap but after it had gone through the hose it was coming out with high nitites

Im sorry i meant Nitrites  was typing fast.

Im using tap water, put it into a bucket, add Prime and bacteria. Wait maybe 10-15 min then put it in the tank.
Question is how do i lower the Nitrites?
I put NITE-OUT II, a lil more Prime and put in the resin mixture for Fluval Filters that takes Nitrites out what else can i do?... i'm just very worried about my fish. How bad can a 0.5 Nitrite harm them?
