I like it. Not cluttered, nice mixture of "terrains" for the fish to explore, but also plenty of swimming space. You don't have to fill tanks with ceramic skulls and big pieces of wood to make a nice aquarium.
The only think I might add is a little floating hornwort, which you can pick up as a pond plant for next to nothing. It provides shade, as well as gives the baby fish some cover until such time as you remove them to another tank (if you choose to). Hornwort also surpresses algae amazingly well, something Java fern seems unable to do (perhaps because it is such a primitive and/or slow growing plant).
I also like snails in my tanks. Since you have Java ferns, which snails won't eat, you're laughing. I love Malayan livebearers, and providing you don't overfeed the tank, they aren't nearly the pest people say they are. They do a smashing job of algae eating and sand cleaning. For the latter, NOTHING else comes close.
The other thing I would do is buy some black sand, and build a sand bank about 2-3 cm deep at one end sloping down to 0.5-1 cm at the other. Then, I'd hide the base of the big piece of wood, so that it looked like a tree stump rather than just a big piece of wood sitting there.
Anyway, enjoy the tank, and thanks for sharing!
Cheers,
Neale
