The most important question I have, is, is it safe to put three week old (maybe 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch) into the main community tank (which currently houses four other fully grown swordtails)? I realize that people suggest leaving them for around three months, before putting them in the main tank, but in the pet stores and with people who do not "rescue" their fry, the young manage to cope quite well with the adults, and my fry seem to have survived past the critical stage at this point. I would of course, continue feeding crushed flakes so they can get food easily too. Since I would be adding 11 fry at once, I find it hard to believe that the bullying would be too bad...

Anyway, here is the situation, so if anyone has any suggestions as to what I could do I would appriciate it! I have a main aquarium (30g, 23.5C, 7ph, strong filteration) which currently houses four swordtails and I have a another tank (10g, 25C, 7ph, medium filteration) which houses 11 three week old fry and one five day old fry which is separated in a breeding net. My first female to show signs of pregnancy started bulging exactly 28 days ago today. I decided to leave her in the main tank for one more day and when I woke up the next morning to put her in the breeding tank she was completely unpregnant. None of the fry survived.
I was super disappointed since it was my first try, but four days later I put one of my other females in the 10g tank and she gave birth. I missed it, since I was at school, but after I put the mother back, I found 11 fry in the tank. Anyway, exactly four weeks have passed since my first failed pregnancy and my first female is bulging again. My original plan had been to move the 11 fry into the main tank on Thursday (hence the question above) and then, if all went well, to put the female in the breeding tank Friday morning, when I have no school (German reunification day, the coolest holiday ever!
) and observe her closely over the three day weekend. This way I hoped to be able to witness the birth and save as many fry as possible. However, today the male has started to chase the pregnant female mercilessly and she really looks like she is about to pop. Even though I would love to witness the birth, I am much more concerned about saving some of the fry, since I have been looking forward to this birth for the past four weeks (I am especially excited since they will be pure koi swordtails, with a high possibility of 25% albino!). Is it likely that the female will give birth soon, even though it has only been 28 days since her last birth? Would it be silly to put her in now, or is it possible that she will give birth within the next few days and won't make it 'till the weekend? And most importantly, will my younger fry be okay in the bigger tank at this stage?
