I Have Sand!

Well i decided..and washed a whole bag of Argos play sand this afternoon...will be doing the change back shortly..did more 17 hr tests 2pm this afternoon...Tank 1 and 3 ? are double 0's and tank 2 has 5.0 of nirite STILL need to know how to get these going again...the pH was fine. Are the water changes keeping it stalled?
argh..all i do is come on here to moan!! lol
My wood is soaking and hasnt discoloured the water at all but it floats...how would i anchor it down in the tank?
EDIT: and would you suggest changing the backrounds?

Re the wood - a housebrick?
Re the backgrounds - that's your choice, like you said yourself. Of the 3 you have, I personally prefer the plain blue, but then neither of my tanks have backgrounds at all. That's just my preference, you have your tanks to please you, not anyone else.

Just wire the wood to a stone of big enought size to sink it. Wire/cable tie etc.

It will colour your water.
