I Have Lost A Fish.

I am really wierded out now. I did a clean today and have lost a julli cory, I had 3 and now I have 2. I have looked all over the tank, its only a 10 gal, removed everything and still cant find him, looked inside my cleaning hose and sucker not in there, looked down the plugs in the bathroom, looked in the bucket i used not there, its a mistery, He cant be in the filter cos its a fluval 2 and there is nowhere to get into it. Has any one ever had this problem.

I have, even uprooted them again to see if I buried him alive when I re-potted them this morning, had a good dig around the gravel, hes not in there.

Yup, all trop keepers have probably had the problem any number of times over the years. Its truly amazing how a fish can "disappear!"

Sometimes one can look all around the floor of the room and find them even quite far from the tank, if they've jumped, and that's even if you think your tank cover wouldn't allow that! Sometimes one can eventually find some white bone and realized that the fish carcas was picked clean by other fish in the tank before you ever saw that the fish was dead. Sometimes the fish gets picked clean and then that last bone gets sucked into the filter. Sometimes the fish is discovered still alive and you can't believe it hid where it did.

Its one of the sadder/funnier aspects of the hobby.

he was defo in there today before I did the water change, gunna go have another look for him, around my room lol.

you might chk the family room in case he was trying to catch a match on the tele

yea hes packed his bags and left me lol, what would happen with the water stats if he is somewhere under the gravel rotting?

a hidden rotting fish can def give you some spikes in your stats

mmmmmmmmmm will have to just keep watch, and buy 3 more corys, 2 is not enough to make a happy bunch, just got no money till friday

Have you got any ornaments in your tank?

If the fish has died they tend to float and sometimes can get underneath ornaments, float up to the top inside and even get trapped under 'lips' or any other nooks and crannies so check any ornaments throughly
