I have Guppie Fry

I bought some guppies a few weeks back and stuck them in my brackich tank for my puffers and gobies to eat...well a few weeks go by and all are eaten except two. well i noticed that the gubbies were messin around with my pipe fish so i moved them to my FW tank with my bleeding heart puffer thinking they would be eaten by her...well she ate the male but left the female alone. so i figgured oh well looks like i got a new pet...well when i got home today i went to go and feed them out of the corrner of my eye i seen something swimming around the gravel...it was ten guppie fry!!! i didnt even know she was pregnant!!! well my question is what do i do now...with the fry how do i care for them, how do i feed them, what do they eat, should i remove then from the tank? i was thinking about takeing them out and putting them in my Brackich tank for the Pipe fish i think he would love them

thats horrible! you should never buy any fancey guppies for food! Those are for pets! There are feeder guppies for feeding!!! You seem like you dont like the guppies so just let the other fish eat them, because thats what will eventually happen to them.

um, where in his post does it say they were fancy guppies don't just jump all over the guy without reading his post. geez.

if you want to give the fry a chance to grow a little bigger, if you plan to use them as feeders as well, you could move them to a smaller temp tank if you have one. you can feed them finely crushed up flake food a couple times a day.

Thank you For sticking up for me Mam!!! And Wrs no they are not fancy guppies i would never do that they just look to cool to feed to my fish i only buy feeder guppies and not all the time. Please read the posts slowly next time you decide to jump all over someones back! But dont worry i dont hate you for it lol

dont worry i wont snap at you it just when people post something that i didnt say kinda gets me mad. I belive that everyone should voice there opinion and to fight for what they belive in.

I feed my fry with baby powdered food (you can buy a canister of this, or you can just crush regular flakes/pellets into pieces tiny enough to fit their mouths), baby brine shrimp. You can also give other live fry foods such as vinegar eels, microworms, etc.

thats nature man u gotta learn to live with it, i watched some of my fish get eaten alive!! it didnt bother me, excpet i liked the fishies , but thats pretty gay if ur gonna cry about a couple of guppies getting eaten, OH NO TEH WORLD WILL END!!!, i guess everyone is different

WRS, if you think people don't use the fry from "fancy" guppies then you're fooling yourself. Lets face it, your basic LFS "fancy" guppies are nothing special and if that's what someone wants to use them for, then more power to them, it's their fish and there is nothing wrong with feeding fry to other fish. If the female guppy was in the tank with the other fish, that's what would happen anyway. Personally I put my female guppy in a tank by herself when she's ready to drop, then I use the fry over the month to feed many of my fish, it's free food in my mind. But I also am growing out 1 batch from her, but I can't do that EVERY 25 days! But I don't want her to have the babies in the main tank and have them eaten immediately, that's just too much food for my fish and wouldn't be good for them, so I spread it out. What's the difference?

you should let them grow out a bit and then feed them to your fish (unless you decide you want to keep them). that way your puffers will have a bigger meal.
