You will probably find there are more males than you think. Only the dominant (i.e. biggest) males get the really bright red on their fins. I have 2 that I know are males, plenty that I know are females, several more that I think are males and a good few that I have no idea. I suspect most of these are in fact males in hiding :)
 
There are about 3-5 with the bright fins and darker bodies. The one who confuses me the most is the largest in there, it's got the bright fins and dark body but it also has the dark spot by the anal fin that the lighter coloured ones have and none of the darker ones have, it's also much more peaceful than the Krays. It also has the deeper body of the female but again when reading I read that older males develop the shape eventually too so it's either an older male or an older female, I haven't found anything really on the social structure of females as to whether they develop a hierarchy or not and whether that affects the colour.
I have fish I definitely know that much :rofl:
