so earlier i posted a topic about my depressing day, we had our beloved mickey mouse platy die, he was solid blaze orange with the mickey head on his tail no other patterns. well, originally we thought sickness, because we had a mollie die last week... well as we were preparing for our weekly water change (and doing a bigger one cuz of the death and doing a gravel vac while we were at it) we noticed that our heater was shorting out!! and thats what we think killed our 2 fish, they liked to hang around the heater..

on the LESS depressing (and akwardly more depressing at the same time) our mollie had a few babies! probably stress induced cuz i was moving her into the breeder tank today and she probably popped them out as i was chasing her, but we were 3/4 the way thru the water change and had to stop to dump the bucket sure as crap I SEEN A BABY!! (and had the immediate thought ''how many did i just flush down the toilet?'') :( :( but we saved 2 that were in the tank and she was still fat as ever when i moved her so hopefully she will finish laying in there where her babies can be safe!

its been over 24 hours since we rescued 2 babies form our community tank and put the mom n babies in a breeder 5 gallon, she's only had 1 more since being in the tank....and is still really big. anyone have any ideas as to WHY she isnt layin her babies??

She is probably done. After 24 hours, most females will be completely done with a drop. You may yet find a few more in the original tank. This is why I try to move females at least a week before I expect a drop. It doesn't hurt the female to isolate her and it gives her a chance to settle in before her drop.
