I have an unknown killer in my tank.

I think these problems occured simply because the new fish weren't quaratined :/
If the other fish were doing fine until the new fish were added, that is IMO, the only possible cause

Do more water changes (or larger ones), and use appropriate medications for the sick fish, good luck
I knew it was from the unQuarintined fish but I never saw a problem witht he fish and the just died. I do not see any more dead ones in the tank so mayb the massacre is coming to an end. Hopefully. Thanks for the help

fish carry lots of diseases that arent visible. your tank is an eco system all on its own and bringing in unquarantined fish is going to disturb that system.

Unfortanately I spoke too soon. I lost another angel fish :(. Here is a list of what the fish are doing before they just dropp dead: they eat normally, swim normally, no signs of ich, no signs of fin rot, and rush the glass when i am near by. To me it looks like i have a internal parasite now. What are the Con's to treating fish that do not have a internal parasite? If i am treating for a internal parasite Should I be using med's such as Metro and Prazi? Please reply as soon as possible thanks

Internal parasites long stringy white poo,red inflamed anus, worms prutruding from the anus, skinny or a bloated look to the tummy, not sure what them meds are also with internal parasites can get second bacteria infections.

thanks for the quick reply wilder. I dont see any of those signs. Isnt that strange? wat else could it be. The water paremeters are PERFECT, and the temp is the same as it has always been.

Hi paintball when it rains it pores hey.

I use this for internal parasites "fedbendazole" its a pig wormer, it was sold to me by my local aquatic shop (discus dealer).
u can add it to food at 1gram per, or if they've stopped eating, about tip of a tsp to 100ltrs of tank water (this method is not as afective)

i use it once a month to worm my discus, and have also used it with sucsess, on a apisto catroid with a bad case.

hope its some help.

Could be external parasites are they heavy breathing, flicking and rubbing on objects, pale gills, if none of that, I think I would medicate the tank with an anti internal bacteria med like maracyn 2 with losing alot of fish.

can diseases lie dormant in fish just as they can in humans?
know how someone can carry a disease, meaning that it is in their system, but not actually affecting or harming them? can that happen with fish?
also, they say some things are most contagious before we humans begin showing symptoms...

thought perhaps one of these two things might help? :(

There are no signs of that either.

I haven't read through the whole thread but I'd like to know the nitrAte levels. Obviously the nitrIte levels are important too but your problem might be something similar to old tank syndrome. Normaly, the new fish would die and those already in the tank would be ok but if the new fish added harboured any disease, they would also end up infecting the fish already in the tank when all of them are weak due to diminishing water quality. It may be far-fetched and I'm not certain what I just wrote makes sense to you but I'd urge to check these parameters as well as finding out the store's parameters to see if the fish could have been shocked from a sudden change in pH or similar. Again, that would kill the new fish but would also expose the older ones to any diseases the new inhabitants were/are harbouring. Anyway, I'd take out any fish that look sick and medicate accordingly. Then make sure the water quality in the main tank is up to scratch - including both nitrIte and nitrAte.
