I Have A Snail...

I had tiny snails in my old tank. They ruined the plants and left nasty round marks on the decorations and the plants and even the thermometer.They also clogged the sponges in the internal filter. In my new tank I get the snails out as soon as I see them. I also soaked the new plants for 3-4 days to make sure they were snail and snail egg free. They are not getting a foothold in this tank!

well, since i can't find him- i'm not going to worry. he didn't seem to be sliming anything, we i don't have a sponge filter. i didn't know about soaking the plants. that sounds like a good idea. i'll do that next time.

Hi, the snails got in my new tank because we scooped up some of the gravel from the old tank while catching the fish to move them. I have caught about 5 and I think that's all now. They are not a problem if you don't mind them, but I really dislike them. They made my old tank look awful. There are one or two things you can put in the bucket while you are soaking the plants to kill snails and their eggs but I just used plain water and then rinsed them under the cold tap to be sure.

cool. thanks I've lost him... haven't seen him since the night I bought the tank... there's no telling if it's even still alive.
