I got this at a car boot the weekend just gone, Working lights, and came with a Rena Filstar internal cannister filter . For £1 I might add ( I cleaned it up of course, it was filthy ) Not a mark or scratch on it BARGAIN.

12 gallons ( 24x12x12 )

I am forbidden from setting it up by mother at the moment, and I do have 4 tanks on the go as it is which is fair enough.

But she has said that when Duncan and Bronson eventually pass away, if I am still living at home I can set this beauty up ( obviously if I have my own place I'll go straight ahead )

I was thinking of having a single really top notch male in here, and either:-

Heavily planted in a natural style OR

I may realise my dream of a surreal scape, and have java moss balls suspended at varying heights midwater, along with a ( marimo) moss ball carpet , with varying sizes of mossballs to give a hillocky effect, on top of a thin sand layer on the base. I may leave a gap in the carpet to add a really twisted piece of wood.

What do you guys think?

drool much???? first that is the bargain of the century and that tank looks absolutely gorgeous!

Second I love the second idea of the marimo balls and carpet, that would just look stunning with the betta of the century to match! Secretly set it up? No no this? It is a water cooler good for my health!

It really is going to be a fab tank congrats!

I think its a great idea, i can already imagine it fully planted and looking great with a beautiful male betta in there!
If you gather information and find out what live plants bettas like and everything, im sure you'd have a satisfied betta and a great home.
The tanks terrific £1 you say !
You could even split it and have 2 halfs, 6 gallons each :D!
Maybe try persuade your mum, see if she'll give in to just one more tank :D Xx

I think moss covered tanks are the GREATEST. Maybe you can tell your folks that you need to "let the moss get started" well ahead of time and then once it is already all cycled and super-cool looking, then all you need is "the fish"... ; )

Ahh alas I wish you all knew my mother. She is a woman with a cast iron will I'm afraid. I don't mind waiting, I get more planning time! :p

OK. Have fun scheming then ... (And don't forget the pics once you're in business)

That is an Amazing Bargain and the Scaping plan with Moss Balls sounds Great.
