Hi all,

I have a small tank which is currently holding my baby platies. I have a brand new 54l tank which i would like to transfer them too a.s.ap

I have filled the tank with water, added dechlorinator, turned on the lights, heater and filter.

if i transfer everything ( old filter, sand, etc) will this be ok??

Say my new tank is 54l, the current tank is 15 litre, if i run both the matured filter and the new filter at the same time will this be ok?? AMMONIA levels etc??

Please help,

Thanks,

Dave

could i do it tommorow??? or is that too soon??

the filter media is more important than the filter itself....

doesnt matter what filter you use, use the media out of the exsisting filter

fill the tank with 50% of the old water if possible, treat the entire tank with dechlorinator

So long as you transfer everything there will be no issues at all.

I've just transferred from 100L t 250L. Set up with water, heat and plants. left 3 days. Then transferred filter media and fish and most of the decor on th day. all water stats have been good

seeding the substrate is pretty important. You can use a little cloth bag and put some of the old substrate in it then bury it in the new. That will help things along.
