I have had a case of white spot in my tank on 2 of my clown loaches 1 passed away and the one is now looking much better and getting back to normal. At what point would people recommend turning my heater back down to a slightly lower heat?

Thanks for any advice

As per advice in Chat, now that you have added the medication, follow the instructions on the bottle to the letter, and leave the temperature up until about 3 or 4 days after the last dose of medication. When you do so, use a carbon filter to remove the old medication from the water.

I'd like to expand on this question a bit.

I am new to tropical fish, and my 36 gallon aquarium is cycled, although I can't get down to 0 ammonia...hovers around .10-.25 ppm.  Nitrites and nirtrates virtually always at 0.

After 2 months I just had an outbreak of ich (white spot disease) in my tetra tank.  It's interesting how differently the tetras have reacted to the ich.  The black neons had it the worst, and 4/4 died.  The x-ray pristella tetras were next, although I lost only 1/4.  The von rio flame tetras suffered badly from it, but they may all pull through.  The glow light tetras certainly had it, but seem to be recovering without any loss (so far).  The blood fin tetras showed no trace of ich, not did the cory cats or algae eaters.

I treated the tank with API Liquid Super Ich cure (at half dose due to the tetras) and rose the temperature to 82 degrees F.  After 48 hours, there appears to be an improvement in the surviving fish.

Here are my questions:

1.  How do you know when you've got it fully cured and your tank is healthy?
2.  Although I'm in no rush to restock, at what point is it safe to restock?

Thanks
