ok
yesterday i put some big shells in my tank ( the shells are like the ones you see in the sea i bought them them from a local new paper shop they are quite big & look a little like corral ) but they seen ok in the tank but i was a little worried coz they are not for fish tanks but any way
now one of my guppies looks very ill she got white spot she is coz of the shells
should i take the shells out of the tank

Shells soften the water and turn it alkali so unless it is a cichlid tank they should not be in your water. There is also a good chance they have been cleaned with dangerous chemicals so really it is not a good idea.

Test the pH. As well you should do a 50% water chacge to get it back to narmal and treat for white spot after the water change.

thanks
moved all the shells out now
:)

Ok sorry. Surley the cahnge in the pH of the water could have caused stress which in turn would have give whit spot a chance to occur though.

I'd doubt that a couple of shells is going to have a significant and instant effect on the overall pH of the tank.

Need more detail on the tank, it's inhabitants and the water stats.
