The shrimp were all moved to the twenty gal, which meant I had room for fish in the 7g . . . :sly:

So I thought I'd try something different. My friend offered a pair of scarlet badis and I'm pretty excited.

I tried to get a male female pair, and picked the dullest and brightest out of the tank, but I think the "dull" one is a male too . . . my friend's a great breeder, but the fish haven't shown any interest all the months he's had them, so we're guessing we only have males.

If anyone could get me some females I'd love to know, but I'll keep my fingers crossed until then that I already have one . . .

azgardens seems to always be out-- plus if I were them I'd be smart and only send out males.

I love those, I got one free with my ctenopoma acutirostre, but it didn't make it :rip:
Great pic

Cometcattle, the link says they are anabantoides, but they are in the family nandidae (with leaf fish) though

Really? With leaf fish? Well I'm glad at least there is some conclusion to the classification battle-- it was too confusing for me to keep up with. :S

They also sell peaceful, schooling Dwarf Puffers.

Tear-scar - Do you know of any good online plant dealers? :dunno:

yeah, peaceful puffers.

I would defer you to aquabid, but it is down. :(

I have gotten a lot of great plants through aquabid and trades with people on plantedtank.net (sorry if this is out of line!). Azgardens is ok, but not that amazing in my book plus there's that minimum order thing . . .

Generally, I have pretty good LFs, and only go to the net for really hard to get stuff . . .

You're a very realistic thinker .

The fish look great , I think color is almost non existent on females .

And yes they are a nanadid , and are classed with leaf fish , for the time being anyway , within the recent past , more Dario and badis species have been made available through the fish trade .

I'm lucky since I can normally find rarities through some of my friends locally-- in any case, the more I watch, the more I think I have 2 males.

Up until last sunday, this tank had nothing but shrimp and otos in it, so it is still crawling with planeria, water fleas, etc. With that ample live food combined with the dense plants and numerous wood and rock caves, the badis are both much more colorful than when they were put in . . . which makes me think they're both male all the more . . .
