Well a few days ago i decided im not getting any more fish. well today was my birthday, and my sister comes home with 2 fish as presents. bleh. Well she got me a female guppy and a female molly. I really like the guppy, but hte molly is deformed with bumps and sits on the bottom in the quarenteen tank (sp?). the guppy was good enough for the main tank though. bah this messes up my plan. The molly is silver, and im going to try to return it, even though they dont take returns. oh well, happy birthday :/

poor mollie........personally id give it a nice home although sounds like she/he might be sick. in that case id try to treat it or give it some good hospice (terminal) care, its not the fishes fault its ill .

hi
although salt is recommended for mollies they can do fine & live quite healthily & happily without it although without they do seem to get minor probs with mild fungus more often than if theyre in brackish water.
i have 2 mollies kept in a salt free tank my other half bought them without researching properly. we cant have salt cos of our loaches & corys in the same tank. we've had the mollies for over 2 years now & apart from 2 episodes of a minor dusting of fungus on our female theyve otherwise been fine. ( i treated her by putting her in our hosp tank with some aquarium salt for a couple of days worked a treat!)
so the mollie will actually be ok in a tropical tank with no salt.

i apologise if it sounded like i was having a go at you in my last post i didnt mean it that way. you should be able to keep the mollie in your tank with no probs.
good luck
