i got 18 guppies yesterday 5 dead today 3 loooking v ill
i posted this a few weeks ago
its now been bout 3-4 weeks ago & now have 6 guppies
( i have 3 yellow tips & pleaco & now 6 guppies the fish were dieing coz i did nt clear the tank enough now clearing every 3 days & fish are doing fine )
just wanted to know if its ok to put fish in just 2-3 guppies

what do you think ????

If you're testing your ammonia and nitrite daily and they have been 0 for at least a week straight, you should be fine to add a few. If there are 10 fish in the tank now (based on your post), I would think 3 would be about the most you could add without possibly causing more problems. That would be a 30% increase in the stock of the tank.

I agree with Rdd. But what sexes are you thinking of adding, and what do you already have? It's best to keep 2-3 females per male, to reduce aggression from the males and stress on the females. :)

Make sure the tank is stable before you add them, as Guppies can't really with-stand cycling thanks to all their inbreeding.

i wanted to keep 2 males & thats it
coz they seen to keep annoying the felmales
i have 4 felmales & add 2-3 felmales
oooooh i have nt been doing the test  :look:  ill start doing that should i walt a week b4 adding them

oh i also have some fry in there ( one 3 weeks old & 5 2 weeks old ones

Okay, so you have 2 males and 2 females, and you want to add 2-3 more females? That's fine, the ratio should be okay then. The reason the males are annoying the females is there is only one per each of them, and male Guppies are mating machines. Be careful of stress on the females until you get more. If they seem to be getting very stressed out, seperate them from the males. Dividing the tank would be your best option, I guess. Just don't put any in a breeder trap or net.

I'd definitely start doing the tests and make sure the tank is stable before you add anything else.

Any plans for the fry? Are you keeping them too?

sorry if im confustion you :S i have 4 felmales & 2 males at the moment & want to add 3 felmales

i was going to keep the fry

Oh, okay. Sorry about that. :*)

The males will always annoy the females somewhat. That's just them being, well, male Livebearers. The more females you have though, the less aggression and stress on each of them. However, with all those females comes lots of fry. Since the ones you have now are surviving, chances are others will too. Female Guppies will have fry every month, and the number can range from 1 - 100, and sometimes even higher. You could easily be over-run in a few months, so I'd figure out a plan for the fry. Do you have any Fish stores that will take them? Friends?

Just think it through.

how do you fry die ????

does the mum ate them ????
do the other fish ate them ????
do they just die ????

may be i could put an add in the local pet store & about the fry do you think people would replie & have some fish -_-

My fry don't die....

If you are asking how any fry don't live, usually, the parents will eat some, as will other fish. I'm surprised some of your's survived with the Tetras. They shouldn't just die, unless, perhaps they are very inbred or they have a birth defect.

You could try putting an ad...but I doubt you'd get many replies, as Guppies are pretty easy fish to get. You'd probably be best off asking your fish store if they'd take them. :)

only 1 from my 1st lot of fry are alive now
4-5 from my 2nd lot of fry a live now

i will ask at my shop

My guess would be they got eaten, or they couldn't survive the cycling process.

If you get more females, you'll get some natural fry control with your fish, but you should still be prepared should some survive.

ok
so really i should nt get more felmales

Most people remove the fry to a seperate tank. If you don't have the resources for that, you can always let nature take it's course and as mentioned, the fry (at least most of them) will be eaten by the fish. I guess it's not any different from giving feeders to oscars or other bigger fish. That's one reason I don't keep livebearers> I don't have room for more tanks for the fry and wouldn't want to just let them get eaten.

Well, I mean, you'll still get some fry from your's. I'd get 1-2 more females, just to make the stocking just about perfect. Once you are sure your tank is stable and cycled, of course.

rdd has given you some fry ideas, but for more info look at the Livebearer pinned topics. :)
