Ok...I have limited choices in local shops so I may be easily dazzled

On the other fin,I traveled the country for years working carnivals in my younger days and never saw anything so grand...and yet I almost missed it.

I've often gone by this place when I go to visit an out of town karate dojo on Monday nights. To all appearances it's just another little pet shop in a small town. The name is Tony's and it looks tiny as you drive by...a blink and you've passed it.Inside is another story. The front room is wall to wall pet supplies of all kinds. The next room is wall to wall fish.Half the room is freshwater and the other half is saltwater tanks. There were clown fish...not just the Nemo type but several varieties. There was a cowfish, and starfish and a slew of fish whose names I can't recall but they were spectacular to see.

The freshwater selection was equally dazzling. They had a whole small tank of baby cories and more tanks of adults.Lovely platies and mollies and much more. All the fish were in clean and well kept tanks. The betta display was like nothing I've ever seen.No crowntails...alas...but veils in colors I never knew they came in.I got one that is red/white and blue  They keep them in small containers but with a continuous flow of water so they are sparkling clean. It was so hard to choose just one.But I also got a young corie and a blue coral platie  And I'm definitely going back :D

:D Glad for you, Koda! Sometimes those little hole-in-the-wall type stores are the best around (can't judge a book by its cover). I used to work in a shop that was in the back half of a consignment-type antique shop, you actually had to walk through the antique store to get to the fish area. The guys running it were two of the most knowledgeable people I have ever met and went above and beyond for their customers...the kind of store worth searching out, no matter what it looks like from the road!

Yeah...it's funny, usually by the time I head over for karate the pet shop is closed.IAnd I always think,"Gee...I'd like to check that place out sometime."Well today I had a little extra time and my kid(Koda jr) was griping about going to class. So I offered a stop at the pet shop as an incentive to make the trip more fun.Now he'll probably beg me to go every week

Where in Michigan? I am looking for a goof LFS here in Mt. Pleasant and the last one left a few years ago. Know of any in the area?
This shop is actually in Wauseon,Ohio. It's about 30 miles or so from where I live in Adrian. It's probably more like 170 miles from where you are,but if you have the time,I'd have to say it's worth the drive. The people really seem to know their fish and take time to talk to the customers :)
