I'm pretty sure Ceasar Millan's approach to dog training is rather 'physical'. Dogs really shouldn't need to be handled how he handles them.

Puppy socialisation classes are really good for dogs. We took all our 3 to them and they're lovely dogs
Here's out latest addition, Teva. She's an orange roan cocker spaniel :)

Thanks for all your kind responses! :good:

Fudge seems to know his name today, he must have simply been extremely shy yesterday. I tried him off the lead on a walk today and he seemed fine throughout and came back when shouted for. I haven't managed to get to a Pets At Home yet however I have managed to buy food, treats, toys and a brush from Jack Fultons.

Will I need to get him a tooth brush or are Denta Stix sufficient enough?

My mum only cleans our dogs teeth when their breath really smells.
If you teach them the command 'Teeth' and lift up their lips, then that can be when you clean/check on their teeth. We've never tried denta stix. Might be worth giving them a go? :D

I think denta stix would be the easier option if it is one. :)

Rawhide chews are just as good if not better than dentastix. Personally I wouldn't touch Pedigree products with a bargepole and they just upset my dogs' stomachs anyway. Bad breath is usually a sign of digestive problems unless the dog is older. I don't brush my dogs' teeth, as I say they get rawhide and unless you feed a diet of only tinned, wet food you shouldn't need to brush them.

I'll not bother brushing then. I bought some of those little rawhide shoes earlier today but he doesn't seem to understand how they work yet

Another snap of Fudge

4 Days have passed since I last posted in this thread, 4 very long and busy days! I have some news; some good and some bad...

If you're human, you will want the bad news first:
The lady I got Fudge off of came and took him back, she couldn't sleep and missed him too much. It was a real shame to see him go, I had really become attached to him.

And now for the good news:
After losing Fudge, I got searching for another rescue dog. After just a day of searching, I found Prince the Lhasa Apso. He's much better than Fudge in every way to be honest, I absolutely adore him and there's no chance he's going back!

Oh, a photo. Why not! :hyper:

Prince, my new dog!

Sorry about Fudge, but I'm sure it happened for a reason :) The poor lady must have really loved him if she is willing to tolerate underwear chewing  How is your little Prince working out? How old is he?

He's 2 years old but hopefully it's not too late to get him out of any bad habits he has. He has been doing well and seems to have settled in quickly, he didn't like my dad at first but I think he's calming down. :)

I don't think 2 is too old at all. If you want, you can always take him to training classes since he is your first dog. (Errrr, well second if you count Fudge!)

I think I'll class him as my first seeing as I only had Fudge for 2 days. I'll see how trying to train him myself goes first so I don't have to splash out £100+

Haha good call! You were just dog sitting Fudge. To train him, get one of those little clickers for a couple bucks. Just use repetition and treats and I'm sure he'll be trained up in no time 8)
