But they were 2 dollars each.
How crazy is that? There are only two petstores here, one is the one I work at (down the street) and the other is in the next little village 15 minutes away...I found them there...she said that nobody had noticed them and that they had grown since she'd got them, but they were tiny! I was SOOOO dissappointed, I've always wanted ghost shrimp in my tanks, I would have bought them, but $2 for something that may get eaten in a split section? Gah.

You wanted them, now you found them, It might be a long time before you have an opportunity to buy them again. I would buy a small collection, set up a small tank and rear them up some more. Being in their own aquaria you can observe them more closely and learn a lot more about their habits etc and who knows maybe breed them someday.

I don't wanna rub it in, but I buy 'em 10 at a time at my LFS for 10 cents each :) My puffer loves me for it :p

Yeah. There 10 for 99cents at my LFS pretty good deal though. For 2 bucks you couldve gotten a fancier shrimp.

If the owner of the place said nobody had noticed them and they are growing... maybe make her an offer, like 20 for 10 bucks or something. If nobody is buying them she might be keen to sell them cheaper.

That is a pretty high price. I don't know if it is related to the effects of Hurricane Katrina still or not. Shortly after Katrina, the LFS around me had signs up stating that they could not get ghost shrimp because of the storm. Even some of the restaurants didn't have lobster (as recent as 3 or 4 weeks ago). A lot of the seafood and I guess ghost shrimp too come from the gulf coast area.

you should breed ghost shrimp, i do it for livefoods for my puffers, oscar and other fish. Its really easy just youll need two tanks, a breeding tank and the a fry tank, i use a 60 gallon breeder tank (cause the setup was only $70) and a 5 gallon hex for fry.

I would love to do that if I was able to set up another tank, but currently all I'm aloud to do is upgrade 4 of my smaller betta tanks to 2-3 gallons, I really don't have any more space in my room. We have to make/buy some kind of shelving unit to hold 5 2-3 gallon tanks, and an 18 gallon tank, that will fit in my room, so my parents aren't too happy at the moment  But maybe in the future, when I have an empty tank, I'll defently look into it. I do have a 5 gallon, that has 1 adult male guppy, 6 younger guppies, and 2 young platies, maybe I could put a few in there, would they eat baby guppies though? My two smaller ones are pretty tiny, but big enough not to get eaten by the adult guppy. I guess I could always try them with my bettas, except there is no filteration in their tanks, plus I don't want to "test" the shrimp with them, don't want them eating a $2 snack on me, really.

petsmart sells them for 30 cents each, my lfs sell it for 10c each, why does your lfs sell them for so much?
Thats what I want to know! She must of got ripped off if she bought them for $2 off her supplier.

Hmmm...good idea, I might try that IF I go back, their bettas were in pretty dirty water, which was unusually for her store, I was a little disappointed. There was even a dead one, I don't know why she would let it go down hill like that.
