I've had my tank up for a year and a half now almost with around 120lbs of LR. I'm hoping it's seeded enough for him. I only got him cuz i noticed my CBS has mysteriously disappeared (did he snip at the niger 1 too many times? :S ) so now i won't have to worry about him being an easy target.

on a side note i also got 3 blue/green reef chromis to go with the 2 i already had and within a half hour of being in the tank i noticed the smallest one looked like he had chewed up fins and saw my niger chasing him around a bit. 5 or 10 minutes later he wuz stuck on the intake of a powerhead so i scraped him off and while he wuz trying to shake off his daze and confusion my niger really started hittin him, eventually eating his throat, leaving a gasping fish there in the sand for my cleanup crew (which surprisingly reacted very quickly, I've never seen them "in action", only just grazing around) . Poor little guy

Great :D

Can't wait until i get mine (1 year + :() you should well sorted with that much LR!

I've just been checking my nano with a flash light and :wow: the amount of pods, amps on one rock is amazing let alone 120lbs of it!

Keep us updated and put a pic through :)

Sorry to hear about the other Chromis :(

While mandarins taste really bad might the niger pick on him aswell?

Edit: "did he snip at the niger 1 too many times?" Quite clearly the problem (assuming hes not hiding after a molt) is that it didn't snip the fish enought, thats a bit like blaming a pet mouse for getting eaten by the cat you kept in its cage.

nope sorry, no pics

OPCN, i don't blame the shrimp at all, i blame myself. When i bought him i thought he wuz a cleaner shrimp, i obviously did no homework  I was hopin him and the trigger would be aight since they were both little and it wuz a big tank. I'm also hoping the mandarin will do fine, the chromis that got killed was the first real aggressive thing he's ever done (other than try to catch and eat the chromis that got his tail snipped off by the cbs one night, but come on, isn't it natural instinct to go after the gimpy/easy prey?)

CBS are a cleaner, And they clean trough out thier entire life cycle, its just that they clean larger fish later on. The huge antennae on Shrimp like the CBS are for holding back small predators but unfortuntely trigger fish are made to get between antennae and spines (the narrow profile and the eyes set so far back on the head).

Anyways, thats in the past, what do you have in the way of Macro Algea? Chaeto and Halameda are goot choices, the Best choice has to be Ulva Sea Letuce.
