There process is really different from others that I have heard. They float the bag for 45 minutes, then slowly drip water into the bag until it is almost full, then empty into a container (I used a bucket) and continue to slowly drip water into the bucket until the volume doubles. I was probably dripping the water in a little too slowly, but none the less he was fine. He was only in the plastic bag for about an hour, then transfered to the bucket. They don't recommend this method for all fish, just Bettas. Normally I float the bag for 30 minutes, add some tank water to the bag and float for another 30 minutes then release the fish, I have not really had a problem doing that, well I had one fish that died after adding to the tank a harlequin rasbora, but I think he may have been sick at the store and just didn't notice it until I got it home - but as I bought a grand total of 28 fish (not all the same species and not all for one tank) and only lost one, I can't really complain.
Anyway back to the Betta, his water stats are fine (ammonia and nitrite 0, ph 7.2 nitrate 5 as of this morning), his next water change is due on Thursday. I actually just looked over to his tank and he is swimming out in the open area. He seems to be doing just fine, I just won't use the mirror anymore

. There is actually a picture of him on one of my other posts: http
