i was at my local pet co just browsing and eventually bought a red ludwigia plant... but there was a lady with her young son there looking at bettas and needed to exchange one because the one they had wasn't swimming around. the worker there told them bettas usually just sit around and don't really swim. Whats worse she told the lady that they only need water as much as the container they come in!!!

i wanted to butt in and tell the lady to get at least a 10 gallon for a betta, but i thought its really none of my business. now i feel bad.

well hopefully that lady is smart and will do some research online about betta care :)

when i get a new fish, i dont always know what i am doing, but i search it online and read as much as i can about care of the fish etc etc.

This is why I wouldn't be able to work in a petstore, even though I know I'd enjoy working with all of the fish (and getting discounts muahaha)...
I just would NOT be able to sell to people who didn't want to take the advice I give and I know at places like Petsmart or something, they probably make you.
I would feel aweful selling people fish knowing they weren't going to take proper care of them, ya know?

But I guess a more informed person working would be better than some of the idiots giving out advice like that though.

I felt really bad when I went and bought Rainbow Fish...there was a betta male in with a bunch of platties and swordtails and he had no tail left from either fin rot or the other eating his tale...i felt so bad and wanted to bring him home with me, but my friend wouldn't let me...now I keep wondering if he's still there and if he's ok...

Live and learn tho... You'll take the person aside and set them straight the next time I guarantee it! I've done that many a time now and there is no law against it... :good:
