ok my two questions are can anybody tell which of my angels are male and female and should i be worried for angelica (i think shes a girl, shes the yellow one). i think buck and red eye might be pairing (the two marble angels) what should i do? im gonna upload some pictures if i can figure out how too

You can't tell which are which normally until you see them breed. Depending on the size of the tank you may have room for a pair and an un paired angel but some breeding pairs wont accept any other angels... I'd just keep an eye on them and seperate if/when you need to.

yeah i know, but i read online that if you breed angelfish then you can tell the difference from male and female. and i was just wondering if anybody was on here who breeds them could tell me whos male and whos female

Well there are very few people who can actually tell male from female. And those that can still can't do it 100% (particularly from pictures), it's much easier to watch them and work it out from there. And the 100% assured way is to just wait for a spawn.

Long story short, don't hold your breath for someone to tell you from those pics that you have x amount of males/ x amount of females. :)

Really hard from those pics, you need the profile better, males tend to have a slight bump to the head, some bigger than others whereas females tend to be straight from the mouth to the dorsal fin, however if the angel is slightly deformed then a female can look male  I would say your large marble is male, but I just cannot tell the other 2

lol, ok thank you. but can you tell me what to do to make them spawn? the water temp is 82, i feed them blood worms. what else am i supposed to do?

what are your water changes? I found when my angels bred they liked little and often instead of say 40% once a week change it to 10% every other day & try adding a breeding cone for them to spawn on.

if you don't have a cone a bit of slate angled resting on the tank will do fine

Basically angels like to lay their eggs on something smooth and clean that in near enough vertical. So yes some do lay eggs on large amazon sword plants, some lay on internal power filters etc.

Do you mean pair up? or actually breed?
When they pair up they will consistently and obviously shunt the 3rd angel fish and will choose to spend time as their pair.

When they breed it's pretty obvious as you will see them sticking close to their eggs. :)
