ok I had a floor meeting today and afterward my RA pulled me aside today to tell me that I have too many fish, they changed the rules this year, and nobody told me and it was fine till now cause my RA never actually came into my room until tonight, now I have to get down to 1 20 gallon tank or I have a chance of actually getting kicked out of college. that means I need to rehome all of my male bettas, except 3 or 4 (They'll let me slide with a couple small tanks but not nearly as many as I have) Hopefully I'll still be able to spawn, the small number of fish that'll I'll be keeping, but I don't know at this point. I'm afraid to post any of these guys for sale or adoption after what happened on other forums a few months ago, I'm afraid of getting burned at the stake again. I have no idea what to do...

Can't you find a few friends to keep your males at? So they'll still be in the college, just different rooms. I don't think THAT will be a problem.

awww thats sad sorry to here that you have to give away or find temp homes for some of your fishes .Good Luck

won't spawning create more fish? If you are trying to get rid of them, why make more?

Are you using two different usernames? I see another one that says same location by the name Liberty. That was wondering what betta he/she should get off aquabid? Not starting a flame thread by any means but stick to one account name maybe?....

I don't have a whole lot of friends here, especially not ones who like fish all that much, my boyfriends going to take a few...
Maybe you could still get them to just let you put a couple tanks in their rooms, and you would still do all the feeding and water changes... or something. :/

I'm not going to be, I know my original post said that I hope I still can, but I'm sure I won't be able to, I have to go and talk to my RD today and find out exactly what she'll let me have.

Yes I have another name, this is my old one, I just got my laptop back yesterday from the shop where's been for over a month, and I came on here and it automatically signed me onto this name and I didn't realize it till I have already posted the thread, lol.

My friend back home is going to take a couple males when I go home this weekend. My boyfriends going to put a couple fish in his room, so hopefully *fingers crossed* I won't actually have to get rid of any, just spread them out a bit until college is over.

Don't breed in a place like college, duh? I adore fish, but having so many in a place where your concern is education - you're paying so much for it! - is silly.

I have nothing against you rehoming fish... but then you're going to breed them when you have a limit? Get a 20 gallon and put dividers in --- you can have 20-one gallon divisions if you want too. lol

Sorry, I'm coming off as a putz... if I was near I would help you make that kinda tank. But I'm not, so I'm no help. :/

Good luck.

You could def. divide a 20g to keep at least some of the bettas, though you probably wouldn't want to make all 1g dividers as it'd be super deep and super narrow, the opposite of what bettas prefer. It would be a good opprotunity to give your favorites some extra space for sure! And the rest could be kept with friends or re-homed.
However, def. do not breed until you're out of college, maybe over summer break or something? Remember, your bettas could have a good 300+ fry! If the RA wasn't cool with a bunch of little betta tanks, how will she feel about a big growout tank, and a TON of babies in jars?
I'd offer to help with placement, but alas - I'm at absolutely maximum capacity for the number of tanks I can realistically clean in a week. And I'm quite above my preferred population just so far as not having a crowded room goes. So, good luck finding homes or foster homes for the fishies!

Cool well if you need to rehome I can help ya I got some space.
