Of course, I won't hit her, but I could.

Today is water change day. Yesterday, I changed her 55 gallon because she hasn't done a good change in about two weeks. She took over halfway and stuck the whole nozzle all the way down into the sand, completely clogging the pump. She continued to vacuum her sand (missing all the poo, but sucking up even more sand as well as half her dead plants). Now I'm trying to do my water changes and it looks like I'll be doing it by using a cup to scoop the water out.

A few weeks ago she broke my battery powered vac which I would have used in this situation, as I can easily attach my tube from the gravel vac to the battery operated one. Now that one is broken, as well as the large gravel vac, while the smaller one is completely missing.

I suppose I could do the terrible "suck until suction" method, but I know I'm just going to get sand in my mouth because I can see sand stuck to the tube, as well as mold since my sister left the tube damp in our very warm front living room (no central AC).

I could strangle her, honestly.

Lots of tapping and rinsing, tapping and rinsing... sand will dislodge eventually, its just a pain in the butt!!

Would that be tapping on the pump or on the sister?

Btw, if she breaks stuff you bought she can at least replace it

She's supposed to be replacing my battery powered one. Maybe she'll realize there is also a bunch o her tank's old gravel in the pump as well. That has been in there since April. I've tried tapping out the pump. I got a bunch of sand out, but the plant matter is firmly situated and there is still plenty of sand actually in the pump, along with the gravel.

I'm so frustrated I had to take a Doctor Who break.

This must be a crisis!

Make her get a new pump and make her give you 10$ for the inconvenience of unclogging the manual one.

Well, it's not like I have to be convinced to watch Dr. Who, but I was trying to do something productive today.

Regardless, I shall have to demand replacements and money.

Darn kids, can't have nothin!
Oh she's not a kid. She's my older sister by seven years!

Speaking from experience just because a sister is older doesn't mean she has any more sense then you

I'm quite aware of that. I'm the most responsible of the three of us. My younger brother is seventeen.

Ouf! I would never suck on anything for the tanks! if you fully submerge the hose you can cover it with your thumb and then take it out of the water and poor into a bucket... it works pretty good and you don't get a mouth full... yuck!

Is it a thumb on both ends, then? I'd like to try it.

A thumb on the end you will lift out only will suffice. (Provided you keep the other end submerged in your tank ofc)
