I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Hey there everybody.

I am so excited about putting first fish in my tank but I know I am doing the right thing by waiting until tank has had time to settle.

Once fish are in I will be posting a lot more but I don't really have much to talk about at the minute since I own no fish ) .

I think I am going to add some platys for my 1st fish as I have heard that they are pretty hardy little blighters, if any one has any other suggestions then I will be open to suggestions.

I really want to be involved in this forum so if people could please introduce themselves to me and send me some pictures of their tank/s and their most awesome fish I would like to start making some nominations for FOTM and TOTM.

One other thing that isn't quite as interesting is that I only set my tank up last week and the water doesn't quite seem crystal clear, I don't think is a massive problem at the minute and I assume itr will sort itself out unless anyone has a ny suggestions for a solution I can use to clear the water.

You said giving time for tank to settle. What does this mean, I assuming that you are doing fishless cycle...

not doing fishless cycle.

LFS said not to put any fish in until approx 2 weeks after tank set up, so just letting filter run with polythene in for 1 week, testing water, leaving for 1 week, testing agin, assuming everything OK then will add fish.

I am very new to tropical fish as you can see so any advice will be helpful!!!

My advice is to ignore your lfs and read this thread:

then you will understand why running a tank with water in for two weeks does nothing at all.

you have polythene in your filter?

What are you testing the water for if you are not doing fishless cycle?
