So after being rude to some of you here (sorry about that  ), I waited until my husband got home to talk to him. He told me that it was up to me what to say to her since he knew she and I aren't great friends. Real helpful, honey

Anyway, I called her and managed to get her on the phone

I very calmly asked her why she flushed the bettas instead of rehoming them or trying another solution. She basically told me that it wasn't any of my f-ing business what she did and didn't want to hear what I had to say. Well, that just p-ed me off right there. I started to say something, but she hung up on me

Homey don't play that

So I decided to go to her apartment

When I got there, she was outside on her patio smoking; so I was able to "corner" her. Still being calm, I asked her again why she did it. I got the same response. Then I got even more angry. I basically said a bunch of things that I can't post here lol. I ended it by saying if I ever heard she did anything else to harm her fish, she had better dang well believe I would contact SPCA (or whatever the branch is here), and report her for it. I also told her I would report her for flushing them, since like some of you said it's illegal.

The best thing is that her boyfriend was on my side about it. Right before I left (she had gone inside), he told me he would keep me up to date on her bettas. So basically her boyfriend is going to be my spy :shifty: . He got really mad that she had flushed them too. He is also a huge animal/fish lover like me

So in summary, I did approach her calmy...but it didn't work. We are no longer "friends"

Oh well...good riddance to bad rubbish

I'm sorry it didn't work out for you but at least you tried. Hopefully, her boyfriend will get through to her and prevent it from happening again.

Lol.. you sound like me in the old days.
BOY I would've freakin sprinted over to her home no matter how far it was if the heifer had hung up on me like that.

As I said in your other thread... I feel sorry for the rest of her fish. No telling what she'll end up doing to them.

You tried. Good effort. Probably a predictable outcome though. I hope it doesn't create problems for you at work. My employer expects teamwork and gives bad performance reviews if there are conflicts on the job. Hard to correct angry at risk adolescent behavior when the adults are going at it. :hyper:

At least you tried  I hate people like that though... you shoulda stolen her bettas

Let's do it. Not such a long way for me to drive down and sneak in. I've got a few days off. San Diego, Hmm?

I can see it now:

:ninja:I'S STEAL ALL YOUR BETTAS :ninja:

*puff of smoke, come back a few minutes later with a bunch of tanks*

:ninja: BETTAMOBILE, AWAY! :kana:

After the operation is successfully completed...then the toilet swirly.

KJ: DC or State?

Is it illegal, really? On what grounds, if so?
Not that I don't think it SHOULD be illegal, but I'd be pretty surprised if it were considering the general lack of laws protecting fish. Also, sewer water is pre-treated before being dumped back into waterways, so no live fish is going to survive that journey, I don't think.
