What do I do with it. I bought it from petco. Do I put it in a bucket? It's in a little tied baggie.

Take it out the little baggie and put it in a bucket of water and changed the water daily till it stays clean.

Boil it if small enough or in the sink/bath in hot water leave for a day. if it turns water brown. empty and leave again untill water stays clear or clear enough.....

It's clean. It was in an aquarium full of water and fish and other bogwood. They just took it out and sold it to me.

If you're sure just stick it in your tank. Its maybe worth soaking it anyway just to be certain, otherwise it may undesireably discolour your water. :good:

its the tannins in the wood that turn the water yellow. tannins are harmless to fish. its debatable but ive even heard people say it can be of some benefit to the fish. im yet to find out how but that doesnt mean its wrong. usually it will take a few days for the tannins to turn the water yellow at whcih point you can do a change. its only for aesthetic reasons that people dont like the water colour

Agreed. My water has just discoloured slightly, and i am changing water to try to remove this, but only for aesthetic reasons. One thing to note though, is that the tannins can lower your PH. :good:

Doesn't matter. I'll still do water changes in the tank like 20 times because of cycling.

I wish i had read about bogwood before i put my bit in. its turned the water in to a sunshade!! its cycling so can't do much. wood is now out in hot water till its clear.

My bigger issue is the bit that won't sink!!!
