I bought a tank today (2.5 uk gallons), for a single male betta, who I am going to collect tomorrow.. now..can I put my apple snail in with him? and.. what about 2 corydoras? It will be a heated tank without filtration.

Thanks!

p.s the lfs guy said "why don't you keep a couple of females with him, that'd be nice!" *sigh* I won't be buying anything other than the tank from him. lol.

The apple snails need 2.5 US gallons of their own, though you can do it if you clean the tank more often. (Snails poo a lot!) They also need veggies to eat and shrimp/algea pellets of their own - there won't be enough food for them left over by the betta. They can also get to the size of golf balls, so keep that in mind because 3 US gallon tanks are decent sized for one fish, but might be hard for a larger snail to maneuver in.

As for the cories, I think you'll be over stocked, and it'll be harder to clean the tank with them in it. Bettas are easily cupped, and snails you can actually just rest out of water while you clean the tank.

Thanks, I got him yesterday and I've left him on his own. He seems really happy. Thanks for the advice :)
