IT is good stuff. I ise it regularly. But it is half that price here.

you can see why im sceptical about the price then

I paid £12, at ste2k3 shop. You can also get it in a frozen mix, called "bio-life marine plankton, with cyclopeze", i used this originally, very good, but a pain to squirt it out of the bottle as its frozen, and its doesnt last that long, thats £6 a bottle, lasted me 2 months max!, very good stuff though.

I've *got* to remember to pick some of that stuff up next time I'm at the lfs!

what is cyclopeze good for? is it a food? what exactly is it? Right now I am adding liquid calcium, iodine, and strontium and molybdenum to my tank. I add combo vital (ever heard of it??) whis is sprectravital and blackpowder mixed together. i put this in every two days. is marine snow better or does cyclopeze replace the need for this. In my tank i have toadstool leather corals, polpys, a metallic brain, starburst polpys. do i need any other things to add, or will cyclopeze take care of it.. what ever it is??

Cyclopeze is a food for inverts and fish. its freeze dried cyclop shrimps among other things.
Yes the price is high, it costs £11.99 here but you only need the tiniest amount. A jar of the size shown has lasted me since May 2004, I feed 3 times per day and i still have at least 1/3 of the tin left.

Its a miracle food for anthias as this is one of hte foods that can keep their specialist dietary needs fulfilled. It does add a richer colour to fish too as its packed with nutirtion.

Make sure you use the small amount though, you honestly only need the smallest pinch as this stuff really does go a long way.

The only problem is that if you have weirs then most usually falls down the wier before it gets a chance to fall inder the surface. If you soak it first or use it in a feeder tube then it will stay in the tank and not float down the wiers.

Newbie15: You are adding a whole load of additives, have you tested the water and found that you need to add them? I only add iodine and magnesium .. i would not even use magnesium but my mangroves tend to use it up.

never have tested for that kind of stuff. so i have no idea if my calcium is high or low, or how the iodine is, ect. I just read the instructions and add the amount stated on the schedule it stated. could this be leading to some of my alage problems? my corals look great, good growth, budding ect. never thought much of it. so all the additives and the combo vital is to much? humm suggestions for test kits to see what additives i need. there is just so much info out there for what to give your tank, escpecially a reef tank. i guess I am lost in this category. is cyclopeze good to feed to corals. ive heard of phytoplex (spelling) and calcium, iodine, ect. what do I need to feed my corals, and what is good for my fish. right now I only feed live baby brine shrimp to my fish.

Brine shrimp is great for getting fish to eat but its extremly poor on nutrition.. Fish will even starve to death if given soley brineshrimp (you can get brineshrimp with added vitimins and this is better).

Cyclopexe is great for corals and fish, at first glance you will think that this food could not possibly feed fish as its so tiny. however, my fish love it and even my dearly departed triggerfish loved it!

I have a full ref setup and i only dose with Iodine and Magnesium regular. I would not even dose with magnesium but the mangroves use it up quickly.
If you have a small amount of stock (which you do) then the corals simply cannot strip the water of the trace eliments that fast. therefore a simple water change will suffice.

Its possible that the tank has an algae bloom from the additives but i dont think its the case in this instance. You mentioned your tank is new and if this is right then you will get algae blooms within the 1st year, the tank needs to mature over this time (there is a difference between maturing and cycling) and getting the water to stablise (which adding all these additives will not help to get the water stable.

I usually 'throw' the finer foods at the water surface, this makes it sink faster and avoid being sucked down to the sump (NB. doesn't work with very fine foods)
