I Am Going To Break The Rules

now you are just being childish, stupid or deliberately insulting... not exactly unexpected on this forum though

minimum height for a discus tank... 12 "

There are always some basic assumptions, first is that the person asking the question is not a complete idiot, although given the last question in this thread I am seriously beginning to doubt that. all the 45-50 gal bowfronts on the uk market (that i can find) are 15-18 high minimum...it's called research, and basic common sense, just as if someone said it was 200gal I would assume it was more that 1/2"deep.

you may have done hours of research... I have been breeding them for a good portion of your life, and keeping them longer, and spent hours tonight maintaining my discus setup.

And you are but one fishkeeper. Personally if faced with 3 discus breeders saying one thing and you saying the other, which way do you think I'm going to go?

I've kept alot of different fish but it doesn't make me an expert. And I'd be willing to listen to people who are paraphrasing other experienced fishkeepers, even if it goes contrary to my own experience.

Being a fishkeeper or breeder does not make you an expert - it just gives you an opinion. Credentials don't win arguments.

so you are happy with paraphrased 3rd hand advice?.... sounds about right.. and if its insulting get over it.

There is plenty of utter crap gong round about discus and it is usually perpetrated by people with no experience spouting "what they heard" or "what I read in a book"

If you don't have the experience shut up & let those with it pass on what they know, because you are part of the problem not part of the solution.
