I rescued these the other day from a store near me, they were kept outside in the baking heat. I knew nothing about them, I didn't even know they existed til I saw them. A quick internet spree on the phone (which took 5 minutes of me standing around like a twit without 3G) and I knew I had to save them. The bag they were in was so hot, the poor little sods couldn't actually move around inside it for fear of burning themselves on the plastic.
£2.50 for 4, whacked them in my 24 hour quarantine tanks and let them get on with it. My tanks are kept at 26-27 to prevent any health issues and my water felt freezing compared to the water in the bag (even after a 20 minute car journey in a cold car).
They're a decent size and very pretty.

Last night I placed them all in the tanks they're going into for the rest of their lives, 2 in the 64L, 1 in the 23L and 1 in the 17L. I gave them all an algae wafer and went to bed.
I had a small amount of diatom algae in the 64L where my blinds have broken so sunlight has been seeping in and being focused through the glass on one spot on a silk plant, I woke up this morning to find nothing...absolutely nothing, no algae, no signs of algae and no snail waste (my old apple snails used to eat everything and leave more waste than the plecs). Very efficient cleaners.
Then to top it off, I found 2 egg sacs in the 64L and one in the 17L, all within the space of a night!
The only downside I can think of is that they eat plants, but since I don't keep planted tanks any more due to light requirements (I'm never there and I don't trust automatic timers, hence the lack of green algae keeping off the diatoms) I've absolutely fallen in love and plan to sell the little'ns on ebay for a tidy profit!
Whole heartedly recommend these snails for non-planted aquaria.
