Does anyone use these, 1, 2,3, nano, etc, in their planted tanks for anything; surface aggitation, anything? How would you compare these to other powerheads?

take a look in the marine section about these pumps, i use a koralia 1 on my marine nano and its great. These powerheads and the tunze stream pumps (would be too much for a planted tank i think) are some of the best on the market with high flow rates but v low energy consumption. These are better than powerheads such as eheim, but depending on the purpose that it is needed for then something else may be more beneficial like a maxijet

The hydor and tunze nano streams can be used in plant tanks for water movement. The larger outlet allows for good water flow but reduces direct currents/streams from occurring. This means you get good water flow without blowing everything around the tank.

Diana Walstad used to have tanks where they were full of plants and only had powerheads. No filters because the powerheads moved the water around so that the plants were an effeciant filter. Just thought that was a bit interesting.
Only downside of having one of the Koralia's is it may stand out and look "ugly" against the plants.
