Having trouble finding this, which is strange considering how widespead and pesty it is. Any suggestion where I can get some? Otherwise, an alternative- bushy, fast growing, lowish light, probably no added nutrients etc. Excluding cabomba, hornwort, vallis and the like.

EDIT- found some on Plantsalive. So just any alternatives if anyone has any.

Please do not use this plant, it can establish in the UK I would suspect.

Try Egeria najas, much prettier and more suitable.

That's not really applicable, why would get rid of it to UK waterways, and where to (where it can cause much damage)? I'd imagine the E. najas could establish in the UK too, if you tried hard enough.

Egeria is much easier to get rid of and likes warmer temps than Hydrilla, I've found Hydrilla in right cold water and it's far north as the middle of the eastern coast of the USA, about the same type of weather. E najas is rarely used and pond folks seldom use it, it's the pond folks, not the aquarists, that cause the issues often.

They want it for their goldfish so they toss some out in a lake etc, or think it's Elodea etc.

Hydrilla forms tubers and they last up to seven years.
So you have treat for at least 7 years, if you are good with the Egeria treatment, you can get it in one year.

That means a lot less hassle and cost should something get loose.
It's also a prettier plant overall.
