This is what you get when you live in Florida. The web goes from the edge of the roof, to the ground, to the tree nearby. It was nuts! I almost walked through it, too.

I've never seen a spider like this around here, either.

I'll update with more pics tomorrow, when it's light outside. I should get a better picture of the spider itself that way.

Wow...Thats awesome, shows what a little spider can do lol.
Thanks for sharing :good:

I know, it's amazing. What's even more incredible, is that I walked through that way earlier today, so he must have done it in only a few hours!

BTW, that spider is not that small (well, small in Florida terms). It has to be 2 inches across. At least it was big enough for me to see it in the dark. :p

Thats amazing!! I can't believe how BIG that web is... whoa! I'm moving to Sarasota next year and am definitely NOT looking forward to the chance of walking through one of those!

Haha, don't worry, this is a rare occasion. Just watch out for the palmeto bugs!

blimey, what size flies do you have for a spider to need a web that size?? lol

Oh god...spiders creep me out!!

When I was at camp a few summers ago (in the great wilderness of northern Ontario, Canada) I had a spider the size of my hand drop down from a tree right in front of my face

Well, checked this morning and the web and spider were all gone. :( I think a bat or bird must have gotten him and tore the web apart. But, if he's still out there, hopefully he'll build up a new one!

You don't wanna know...

I used to live way outside of town in Florida and we had a barn with HUGE wolf spiders in it. I mean, these things had to be 6" across.

Holy crap..that thing is awesome!

I would not mind having one of those...I would never touch it...but it would be fun to watch :D.

I've always wanted a snake though...but my mum is honestly deathly terrified of them ( causing her mental and physical stress when she even sees one...) so I've never been able to keep one before.

 it's like a scorpion and spider love child. The only bad thing is that he, Ralph, is extremely nocturnal, so during the day it's a cricket terrarium.

I've always wanted a snake, too, but I think it'll have to wait until I get out of my parent's house. I already have enough trouble keeping as many tanks as I do now! They just don't understand the obsession...
