Huge Problem!

Hi everyone, been keeping fishy fish for going on 3 year's now and still cant make a bloody decision! I have a now about 17" common plec.

I have had it since i got my first rena panoramic 120 and have watched him grow from 2 inch to 17!!! he is the only fish i have had who friends and family actually know his name as he is obviously the large "show piece" that he is.

My problem is that I know he is now getting just too large for the tank and i cannot do anything to it, as when he disagree's it tends to mean complete destruction. Where or who can i give him to?

I need him to be going to a more than suitable home and not somewhere with someone who will put him in a tank smaller than my own.

if anyone knows of somewhere suitable i could take him then i would be more than gratefull. I couldnt bear the thought that he was going somewhere not suited and would rather leave him in my own tank if thats the case as, it may not be the largest, but i would still get to see him!

If I were you I would list him on the classified section if this forum and on http/www.aquarist-classifieds.co.uk/

Some zoo's might take him, he isn't too big for some aquariums though so I'd post him on the classifieds section, there are always people hungry for monster plecs like this guy here.

thanks, personally he has been the strongest fish i have ever had, had allsorts happen. Obviously the usual failing filters and heaters due to power cuts etc and he has been tough as old boots.

very tough guy and to think i paid like £3.50 from P@H lol

its heart breaking personally but know he would prefer a bigger more suitable environment.

My local Maidenhead Aquatics have large tanks and often rehome overgrown plecs and either keep them as 'pets' or sell them on to suitable homes. The last time I was there they had 4 or 5 about the same size as yours all in separate tanks. They are fascinating to see when they get to that size! Of course you could always buy a bigger tank...

haha bigger tank would be superb but a 4ft and 3ft in my bedroom i think was an acheivement in itself!

ive even contemplated insulating shed and sorting garage but to no avail!
