Hows This Home For My Betta?

Good size! There are mini heaters about (Elite think the brand name is) that you can get quite cheap and also won't take up too much tank space :)

I'll have a look on the internet see if i can get a good deal, im learning about how to improve shimmers life all the time, and i love it!:D

elodea is perfect! i see you have some already...when it grows too long just trim off the top and replant it...it usually grows fast so youll have all the plants you need in no time!
other good ones are vallis, camboba, and crypts...all easy and good growers (although vallis needs to be trimmed more as the older leaves die off(dont worry, new shoots are growing) and crypts grow slow...but given time look GREAT!!!
cheers for you and your fish

thanks, shimmer seems less energetic i think hes had a long day, because im not going bed for another 1 or 2 ive just used my small aquarium light so he doesnt think its night time yet lol.
The elodea ive got i got today, its like really bushy and thick!

He's a cutie, and it's great to know that you are really trying for this little guy and his tank is a good size. Deffinately try to get him a cave of some sort coconut caves go well in natural tanks and look really good, My bettas love them.

Oh and i highly recomend sand as it's easy to keep clean as you can see any derbis that needs collecting and it looks brilliant. Get some argos play sand 15kg for £2.87
Wash it and put that in it's the best sand i've used and looks better than aquarium sand, it's also completely safe.

Great work and keep us posted :)

Just ordered a heater from china, may take a upto a week or 2 but its a good one, fof £8 with a temperature control thing :).
I'll see about getting some sand when i next get some money from my dad.
Im a bit worried, when i feed shimmer he eats it then spits back out.

What food are you giving him? Calcifer did that last night with Hikari Betta pellets, he will get used to them as he had bloodworm prior to this. I think it is Shimmer tasting so don't worry.

Just keep a close eye on the temperature on the tank and water parameters.

In my local LFS Southern Aquatics they sell small bags of sand perfect for 3-5g for 99p each. Also you could try Wilkinsons that sell gravel. Lastly childrens playstore that sell pool sand (we have a local Children's Learning Centre that does it cheap).

It might be handy to keep a diary of his temperments and what the daily water stats read so you can track the cycle. I have one going as relatively new, but then i like to write and stick pretty pics :) ;) I am geeky

Well i fed him a few bloodworms yesterday by using tweezers then he came and took it off me, and i tryed him on a flake last night and today their called 'king british, tropical fish flakes'.
The temperature is now 77.
I do my first water change today and ill do some water tests and keep a table.
