Evening all. Just thought I'd drop a quick line to introduce myself.

Well, I'm based in Kent in England, the miserably cold one in Europe that is. I've just inherited a fish tank of size roughly 160litres (sorry don't know what that equates to in gallons). Had fish in it for about a month and a half and have a combination of the usual faces, i.e. guppies, mollies, silver sharks, etc, etc. Obviously still very new to it so not sure of the best fish combinations yet but getting some advice from local fish stores. Of course, some good, some bad.

Does anyone else find that sometimes you go to a fish store looking for advise but end up talking to saturday staff who know diddley about fish?

Have been pretty constant with water changes and monitoring nitrite levels, etc. Am pretty happy with the state of my tank.

So anyway, I'm pretty smitten with tropical fish; there's something extremely carming about watching them. Would love to get involved with Marine but appreciate that that it is far more involved than i am prepared to be.

Anyway, that's about it. Pleased to meet you all.

Sounds like its about 40 gallon if my math is correct. Also when filled equals 400 pounds of weight with water.

Fel free to drop your questions int he beginner section, lots of good help there. Check out Do-It-Yourself for some neat suggestions.

From what I have read and seen, alot of the major fish stores or department chains have people who know very little about the hobby, might be worth finding a small local shop to ask questions at who have been open for a long time.
