This is my other thread
Shall i put him in the 5 gal or not(the tank has BEEN steralised)and is now fine!
His fins are quitye short now and im worried, plus hes ate on of my platys fins!
Im really worried but as the other tank ha n heating how shall i keep him warm any ideas please

Put him in the 5 gallon tank - pronto.
Get him a heater when you can..
I'd say he'll be safer in that tank than being nipped at or nipping at others in the other tank.

JUST MAKE SURE that you take him out of the tank and put him into the other one that the new tank has been dechlorinated and isn't at a temp that's way different than the one he's coming out of.

You will also need to get him a heater (sooner rather than later) and some sort of filtration probably. Also if his fins are in bad shape, you'll wanna get him some Betta Fix. i've recently been assured by my lfs (that's very reputable) that Betta Fix works wonders.

good luck.

how will i keep his tank warm though
im ust worried in case he gets cold and dies

Will he be in the same room that you spend time in ?
I'm assuming it will be room temp? Like 72 degrees???
That will be okay for the time being - but get a heater.

Your options are pretty limited - leave him in the tank he's in and he'll eat or be eaten, or put him into the 5 gallon tank.

I'd opt for the 5 gal tank, then go spring for a heater.
It won't break the bank and if you wanna save him, well then you know what to do.

Will he b okay fora couple of days then
Coz i havnt realy got that much time
Im still at school and the lfs is miles away so ill have 2 find a lift!

The tank is about 79 ish
I think The room temp is a bit under
Would shining a desk lamp directlly onto it help
I dunno if it would but i was recommended it?

If the tank is at 79 during the daytime, with the room actually lower...at night it may get way too cold.

If you can't get to the pet store a lamp shining on the tank will help keep it warm also, but you don't want to do that for long. They need the light out every 8-10 hours or so..so they can rest. A longer fix, but should still be temporary is..If you have a heating pad..you can sit the tank on that and it will help keep the temp up. But you'll have to play with it to see where it needs to go and how high the temp setting shoudl be to keep it stable.

If his fins have been damaged you definately want to get some sort of meds in there with him. If you have some Aquarium Salt, a nice salt dip would probably make him feel pretty dandy as well (4 TBSP Asalt to 1 gallon water, put the fish in and watch for any signs of stress. If he rolls over on his side take him out (don't worry!!! He only just fainted) and put him back in regular water and he will revive. If he doesn't show any signs of stress leave him for up to 30 minutes at a time...you can give multiple baths a day too, I usually give them one every 4 hours or so if there fins are in a bad way).

Also, putting 1 TBSP per gallon in his 5 gallon tank will also (called a salt bath, not to be confused with DIP) help his fins heal, if you don't have any meds.

 Good Luck

BettaFix is simply tea tree oil. For bad damage I would start with salt as SRC suggested, then move to bettaMax (NOT fix) if you see any secondary damage.

I'm trying BettaFix on the advice of my lfs.
It seems to have started the healing process in my one fish with rough looking fins.

If it is something other than finrot, then yeah - maybe try something else.
