How should i go about 'cutting' the dead stems off plants? Their rotting for some reason (anyone care to explain)?

I think we need a bit more information to help you properly.

Firstly, do you know what sort of plants they are? Do you have any photos?
What sort of substrate are you using?
Do you have CO2?

Give us details of your tank. Size? lighting? Water Stats?

Right:

24" standard (15/18g)
1 Arcadia FW 18" lamp, 1 interpet daylight plus 18"
Tetraplant Plantamin liquid fert/root tabs

I have low light plants java moss etc (except my tiger lotus). I dont see where im going wrong, most plants are growing, no CO2 or algea at the moment. So whats with the rotting and how do you go about cutting the stems of my dying plants?

Right then. Which plants are rotting? Can you describe the rotting, if you know what I mean. Is the main stem rotting above ground?
