Rare pleco breeding tank?
Gymnogeophagus and similar cooling period fish (Uragayan biotope)
Snakeheads - nice group of dwarfs (have to admit I think this would be my choice)

I would probably do a Bichir tank or do a amazon set up, but in the end it might end up going to what my better half would like so I can get away with some of my fish she would most likely freak out about seeing lol

cheers for the fast replys and lol wills your too kind replying to my threads all the time ye im thinking about snakeheads now with maybe a small species severum or cupids? then larger shoaling fish maybe. and ye ive always wanted a bichir are they same family as snakeheads? only thing is i wouldnt just want to have just a snakehead or bichir

I am doing something similar Confish and have looked at similar options to yourself. I have considered snakeheads as well but I can't really find great information about them?? Is there anyone that has some good information or awebsite on the channa bleheri, as I think this would be the best one for the 4 foot tank.

If I don't go with that then it will be a South American set-up without a shadow of a doubt.

Depends, do you want a "community" tank or a predator/prey tank? Makes a big difference, I would not put snakehead in any tank, over here they are an invasive nuisance fish, very predatorial, fast spawning and can possibly escape if you are not proper sealed on top. You can't just tar all snakehead species with the same brush, there are hundreds of species with some just 4" in size when fully grown,
