How well would using a standard desk lamp and putting a good bulb i nit work for a standard 5 gallon that needs medium-high lighting?

It's gonna give fine visual lighting but won't penetrate well for things like fast growers and carpeting plants, a good rule of thumb is taking the light output of whatever bulb your using (you can find the specs on the bulb box and dividing that by two for every 3-6 inches of tank depth, this will give you an idea of how well the light penetrates the water at your substrate.
Also consider the heat being output by your lamp. Different bulbs will generate more or less heat but it will be higher than a standard aquarium light, especially the LED's and 5 gallons of water isn't a lot so it will be susceptible to fluctuations.

Well ima have it close to the tank to were it will be low I will also be using high lumens high kelvin cfl bulbs.what im wanting to know is with the right bulb or possibly two desk lamps will it give me medium to high lighting?
