How can you tell if gills are red?

Why are you asking...does your fish have something wrong?

Do you know what kind of fish it is?
If so you could go to yahoo and do an image search for that fish. Or better yet you could search this website's member's fish and aquarium's forums, or the fish index.
Find the the fish that looks like your fish and look at the gills.
Are they significantly redder than your fishes?
Some things you should consider include, are there different color morphs for my species fish, does my fish change colors when breeding, and does my fish change colors as it ages.
