hey guys im new to the whole planted thing. but i recently picked up some dwarf hair grass today at petsmart. ive watched a couple of youtube videos on dwarf hair grass and how to seperate and what not. my question is how to i get it to successfully get it to grow and carpet fast??? ive heard that you should trim the hair grass, however i was kinda unsure about this.

also some side information right now i have two 10 watt white/blue bulbs, and its planted in flourite.

if you could help me out it would be very appreciated.

also its a 10 gallon tank if thank helps.

Take it out of the pot if it's in one and take all the rock wool off of the roots. Then spilt it up into the individual plants. Lay them out on a towel or piece of damp kitchen roll or something to stop them drying out too much while you do this.
If you want it to stay low and carpet quicker, trim the leaves to about 2 inches long, and trim the roots too so that it is easier to plant.
Then plant in your substrate, spacing it out over the area that you want covered. If you have aquarium tweezers, this process should be easy. If not, it may be fiddly. You could try using regular tweezers and see if that helps.
Once planted, it will start to thicken out and spread via runners. Ferts and CO2 will increase the speed of spreading, but with none it will still spread, just more slowly. Make sure that debris does not end up collecting around the bottom of the plants as this will cause them to rot, and also watch out for algae on the leaves as it is not a fast grower if not supplemented with CO2.
HTH.
