Take one page of newspaper, put it in the kitchen sink and soak it. Put the plants to send in the center of the sheet and then fold it all up. Slide the wet paper and plants into a shipping bag. Add maybe an ounce of water to the bag and knot it so the bag ends up about the same size as the plants. Put it into a second bag and knot it.
Plants are pretty hardy but will not withstand freezing nor extrememly hot temps. You would use a small heat or cold pack when temps demand it. I ship plants in a styro box similar to what I use for fish wxcwpr in mioderate weather- ie 60-85F without a styro.

Trimm your plants. Put them in baggie empty out all the water, seal the baggie and put in your shipping box and off it goes.
When there is water the plants may get mushy, and Newspaper or wet towel seems to make the plant more vulnerable to freezing

put them in a fish bag and heat seal the end, they used to sell them heat sealers in betterware i think but a few staples will do.

This is what I do...
Get a sandwich bag (ziplock) or other plastic bag, it doesn't need to have a seal but is best if it does I suppose.
Take the plant/s out the tank and let the some of the water run of, to leave the plant wet, so you don't get a load of water leaking in the post.
Put the plant/s straight in the bag and seal, if you havn't got bags with a seal tightly secure an elastic band.
Then using an envelope with bubblerap attached to the sides place the sandwich bag with the plant in it, if you tilt it one way there will should be a cm sqaure of water in a corner, maybe more.
Or if you do not have one of these protective envelopes just wrap the sandwich bag in a bit of bubblerap to protect the plant from getting squished/bent.
And the feedback has been great, saying that they were in top cond on arrival.
