Can't say I've tried this type before, but most (if not all) diffusers go inside the tank and are stuck onto the glass with suckers. They will of course then fill with water, through which the CO2 bubbles pass and 'diffuse' into the aquarim.

Hope this helps

Hi there, Themuleous got the basics covered! :)

that is a ceramic disc diffuser, it might not fill in with water if you keep the pressure up (it fills when the pressure inside the device drops that allows water to drip in)

It is hard to use with a DIY co2 system, its better if you have pressurized setups :) btw it takes time before the bubbles start coming out, the device needs to build pressure inside.

The ceramic disc will get some algae over it eventually and this can be solved by dipping the whole thing in a bleach water mix, it is better to avoid srcrubbing the disc with a toothbrush, just dip the device in bleach water, leave for around 15 mins or so, wash with water, dip again if desired then dip in a tub of water with a lot of anti-chlorine. Smell it if the diffuser still has that bad bleach smell... if it does, simply rinse with water and dip again with the anti chlorine mix.

*side note*
the device might also work better if you situate the rising bubbles near a current (the output of a canister filter maybe?) so the micro bubbles swirl around the tank :)

hope this helps !

Cheers,

I've just put it in tonight. When you put it in the tank, no water enters the actual chamber. So i kept wriggling it about until it was almost full. That's why i was asking because unless you move the diffuser about water doesn't enter it.

It has a spiral glass tube running through the middle of it, but it doesn't seem to do anything. At the bottom there is a tiny hole where the c02 bubbles escape. It does double up as a bubble counter though, and it looks cool.

I'm going to post another thread with my pictures. Just got a plant load from greenline. I think i went a bit mad!

Ta.

Cheers for the replies.

hi man, can you tell me your result..?

i have a problem with my ceramic diffuser, the water enters the actual chamber, inside it,

and i doesn't get the CO2 target level,
