my adf has some weird bacteria or disease thats eating away at him. it looks like its eating his flesh because his left leg is down to the bone already and it just keeps spreading. i want to put it down before it suffers anymore because it can barely swim now. it started out as a little red spot, then it got deeper and it spread out. it looks really really bad and im almost sure it wont survive this. somebody give me some suggestions please but please dont tell me to wack it because i have this weird things with frogs where i dont even want to touch them even if i am wearing gloves.

Its redleg, he wont survive :(

But whacking him on the head is the only thing i can think of...

I know with fish you have to put clove oil in a bag, drop the fish in it and shake the bag around.

Dont know if it will work with an ADF though...?

Sorry that he is suffering.

I would say that a concrete block with frog in a sealed freezer bag is probably the quickest, have killed fish instantly this way myself but it's not very nice. Or maybe your vet will inject him at a cost for you. This would be the most humane solution. Sorry

there is a big debate about euthanasia and if you search the forums you'll find a lot of topics on the subject so i won't reiterate everything here

however there tends to be 2 camps

1 - whack it, or cut it's head off. basically a method that may seem brutal to you but providing it is done properly death should be immediate and therefore the frog shouldn't suffer considerably but it's grim to do adn can be traumatic for the owner

2 - clove oil. much more peaceful for the fishkeeper, the fish should just appear to go to sleep and seems peaceful while it passes on however there is debate over weather it really is a peaceful nice death and weatehr it's not just best to get it over with quickly

aparantly, clove oil keep it alive for a sertain amount of time, then will die soon after also, i dont think it will work on an adf, catch him, put him in a bag of your tank water ( tiny amount ) then put him outside on the floor, then drop a brickon his head, maybe grim, but its the best way. Sorry.

African Dwarf Frog.

Brick it.

Decapitation isn't nice, and you'd have to be sure where the spinal cord was to sever it properly.

Sorry the frog's gone that way.
